Chaptermaster Sequoia

points 300 ws 5 bs 5 s 5 t 5 w 6 i 5 a 3 ld 10 sv 2+/4+inv
special character: let's face it no one is letting you play this beast of a marine, but if they do he must be used exactly as listed and may not be given any extra wargear.

Equipment: artificer armor, Perennial cape, pointy stick, STC heavy bolter, badge of office.

options: Sequoia may choose to operate as an independent character or form a command squad, using the Forest of Advisors special rule.

if selected as an Independent Character Sequoia may take a land raider as his own dedicated transport.

special rules:

Perennial Cape: a cape given to Sequoia early on in his career commemorating his unusual resilience in battle, the cape is lined in mighty and adamantine materials. it prevents Sequoia from being subject to instant death for any reason, and bestows a 4+ invulnerable save.

Pointy Stick: the pointy stick is a master crafted power weapon in the shape of a 15 foot long hard wood stick with a pointed tip.

Poke Em In The Eye!:The chapter master is the living embodiment of his chapter, and sequoia takes his battle cry very seriously, given any opportunity at all he will jab his pointy stick right in to an opponent's eye, and occasionally right on out through the back of their skull. if Sequoia rolls a six to hit on any close combat attack against a target that has a weapon's skill the attack is resolved at double strength.

STC Heavy Bolter: Sequoia's Bolter is a singular example of the the technological power lost during the darkness prior to the dawn of the age of Imperium. due to it's greatly reduced weight, and sequoia's righteous strength The STC heavy bolter may be wielded as a pistol (extra attack is represented in sequoia's statline)
STC Heavy Bolter range 36" Str. 5 AP3 type: Pistol

Badge of Office: an eagle grasping a skull and a pointy stick has been fitted to Sequoia's left shoulder plate, inside this plate is an arcane transmission device which allows Sequoia to open any door in the Pointy Stick's fortress monastery. Although he mostly uses it to get beer from the mess hall when ever he wants it, the badge of office allows Sequoia gain access to more specialized equipment than is normally allowed for a mission. An army that contains Sequoia may exchange a single troop choice for either a heavy or fast attack choice.

Forest of Advisors!: if Sequoia chooses to take a command squad any and all independent characters, and HQ units included in the army list MUST operate as a part of his squad, in addition to this sequoia may add up to 5 marines using the normal command squad entry .

Great Stature: Sequoia's height, bulk, and tendency to make sweeping gestures means that he never is effectively hidden, as such he may never take a cover save for any reason. he also counts as 5 terminators for determining transport capacity.

Good work Joshua. Your prize will be along shortly!

Chapter Master Sequoia (a.k.a. The Pure Awesomeness)
Point Cost: 345 and a half (rounded up)
WS: 9.5 BS: 10 S: 4 T: X W: 4 I: 5 A: XL d: X Sv: 2+/4+ inv.

Wargear: The Pointy Stick, Ultra-Mega-Omega-Fist-Power-Boltergun, Pointy Halo, Wooden Artificer Armour of Inflammability, Cadia Pattern Helmet, Terminator Honours (+2), Mars Pattern Generator mkII

Special Rules:

The Pointy Stick- For every Space Marine chapter, there is a chosen few artifacts. Most are scattered throughout the galaxy, but ChapterMaster Sequoia decided to keep them all for himself. Thus, he wields the most feared weapon of all, The Pointy Stick. This great weapon is so freakin’ great that it lowers Sequoia's Weapon Skill by 1/2 a point (already included in the profile) due to its sheer coolness. The Pointy Stick counts as a Power Fist, a SET of Lightning Claws, and an Inferno Pistol, all at the same time. Yes, the wooden sword/club thingy can shoot fire, dont ask...

Ultra-Mega-Omega-Fist-Power-Boltergun- Sequoia is a man of many virtues and morals by which he lives. One of those is "Too much of anything is never enough!". This is something he takes a bit too seriously. Basically, he believes that he can never go into battle (or stay at home for that matter) without a "well stocked kit". Therefore, the Ultra-Mega-Omega-Fist-Power-Boltergun can count as a Bolter, a Stormbolter, Twin-Linked Lasguns, or a Needle Pistol.

Pointy Halo- As Sequoia has all of the Pointy Sticks' artifacts, he dons the Pointy Halo. Basically, the Pointy Halo is an Iron Halo that grants +1 Attack (not already included in the profile). Rumour has it that he made this artifact himself using the finest tools available at preschool when he was two. Trademark Armour- Another of Sequoia's artifacts is that of the Wooden Artificer Armour of Inflammability, and a regular Imperial Guardsman's helmet. Not many people understand why he wears a mobile infantryman's helmet, but some would like to think that he believes it gives him "the extra padding". This doesn't make much sense due to the fact that his own helmet could probably fit better and provide much better protection. Others believe he lost a bet of which the conditions were for him to wear that helmet and name his first child after a tree.

The Wooden Artificer Armour of Inflammability is just normal Artificer Armour that makes him invulnerable to all melta and flame weapons. Going back to his most famous moral "Too much is never enough", Seqouia also believed his power armoured suit didn’t have enough of either "power" nor "armour", thus he forced the techmarines to attach a generator to his suit to give him a bit of a boost, and somehow increase his suit's durability. This boost determines his amount of attacks he gets. Basically, the amount of attacks that Sequoia gets are equal to the amount of marines left in his army, up to a maximum of 8. On top of this he may also get additional bonuses for charging, the Pointy Halo, or two close combat weapons. Note these extra bonuses only count if he is in base-to-base contact with an enemy model.

Wooden Might of Stubbornessness- Since birth, Sequoia had been taught all about war, and trees. He knows every genus of every tree in every galaxy. This incredible knowledge actually lets him speak to the trees. Most people think he’s crazy, but this insane lust for trees is what led him to The Emperor's Pointy Sticks in the first place. In this respect, Sequoia's Leadership will always be equal to the amount of trees on the field multiplied by 2, which can then be conferred onto any friendly unit within 12" of Sequoia. Also, Sequoia's Toughness will always be equal to the number of trees on the field. Note that in ANY game played against Chapter Master Sequoia (a.k.a. The Pure Awesomeness), the opposing player may destroy any tree on the field with a flame or melta weapon by shooting at it and "wounding" it on a 5+. The trees never have an armour save unless Sequoia is within 6" of the tree, in which case he MUST make the armour saves for the trees. If he fails the save, the tree dies but Sequoia may make an invulnerable save to prevent himself from crying too much over the tree and losing a wound.

Special Character: Chaptermaster Sequoia may be included in any Emperors Pointy Sticks Space Marine army of at least 1,500 points as its Commander. He may be accompanied by a command squad of Terminators selected as normal but otherwise must be fielded exactly as specified.

Equipment: Terminator armour (bonus included in profile), The Golden Stick of Steve, Storm Shield, Purity Seals, Terminator Honours (bonus included in profile), The Great Enemy

SPECIAL RULES
Independent Character: Chaptermaster Sequoia is an independent character.

Rites of Battle: As Space Marine Commanders (see rule book)

Command Squad: Chaptermaster Sequoia may lead a Terminator Command squad chosen as normal from the army list.

The Golden Stick of Steve: This arcane weapon of unknown design and origin is said to have been carried in battle by Steve, the first primarch of The Emperors Pointy Sticks. It is a mysterious weapon of great power combining awesome ranged and powerful close combat attacks. The Golden Stick of Steve is also a powerful icon to all Emperors Pointy Sticks marines due to it being so shiny and stick shaped as well as the its value as a relic.
The Golden Stick of Steve can be fired once per turn as a lascannon. In close combat it counts as a master-crafted power fist. It also counts as a company banner.

The Great Enemy: The Emperors Pointy Sticks have always had a deep hatred of the Pointy Sticks of The Emperor. The origins of this feud have been lost in the sands of time and none now live who remember why. Regardless, the bitter grudge continues. Chaptermaster Sequoia is has fought many battles against this foe and so hates them with even greater passion. As such when fighting the Pointy Sticks of The Emperor, he (and any squad he joins) gains +1 attack and +1 strength.

Poke ‘Em Inna Eye!:
Chaptermaster Sequoia is a fearsome enemy in close combat. Wielding the Golden Stick of Steve, he can inflict very accurate attacks. On a roll to hit of 6 he will poke the enemy in the eye. No armour saves are allowed but invulnerable saves are used as normal. This is only applicable to enemies with eyes.

Backhand;
If anyone in the same squad as the Chapter Master breaks, he backhands them with a Str 3 attack. Calculate wounds as possible. Consider yourself learnt.

Mike Iorizzo

Image

this is what he has;
storm bolter, power weapon, master crafted weapon, lightning claw,
artificer armour and bionics

Some background: the chapter master of the pointy sticks originally
worked as an assault marine. Some time ago he failed to obey the god of the
sticks and had his arm destroyed by a large pointy twig falling from the sky.
The arm was replaced with a bionic arm which he then chose to attach a
power sword to, to apply to his assault marine job. After becoming the
veteran sergeant for his squad, "pokeanators", he was promoted to become
captain sequoia of the twiglings company. He then went on and won many a
battle for his newly founded company, but no, he didn’t want to stop there! In one battle against Tyranids, he was ambushed by a squad of Genestealers
from behind. Luckily all but one of their wounds were inflicted on his
bionic arm. The one remaining wound was a rending attack. Then quickly
thinking that this was the end, the captain turned his back in fear. The wound
was inflicted on his power/jump pack. This damage angered Sequoia, he
ordered his assault command squad to carry on the fight with the other Nids as he delivered unknown pain to the Genestealers that most definately went
against the rules! (he was playing a noob). He shouted in his frenzy, "POKE
'EM INNA EYE!", and from this day on, as a remembrance of this heroic
skills this saying became the battle cry of the emperor’s pointy sticks.
Many space marines of the sticks admired his attitude and amazingness, and it was decide that him and the chapter master were to trade places.

I'd like to thank everybody who participated. Fortunately there were not very many of you, so everybody gets a prize! I really enjoyed everyone's take on Chaper Master Sequoia and don't be surprised if the "official" version has elements of many special rules blended together to create the ultimate battle leader.

Thanks Y'all!

Congratulations to you all!

You know, I was really temted to walk up to a local sequonia, glue a piece of paper on it that bears the EPS logo, and use it for the contest. Too bad, there are no sequonias at where I live.
