I have to say, I thought it was an homage to FMJ too.

Yeah, I have heard the Steers n Queers line alot - but only because it was in FMJ to begin with!

I think you are bang on, TF!

If cavendish is driving a baneblade he will clearly need an additional 26 men. Yess....

Actually An Officer and a Gentleman came out in '82 while Full Metal Jacket came out in '87.

So I admit I'm wrong on which came out first.

Just checked the IMDB and saw that TF is right, Officer was '82 (two years before I was born, and a movie I have never seen), and FMJ was '87, which I have seen.

Would just like to plead for forgiveness for doubting Steve and Sel on this.

And yet Duff hears nothing in the way of "Yeah, you were right"?

Gah, what a... board... >.>

Well, I was going to say something, but I was afraid we had strayed too far off topic, and you know how testy the mods are around here......

Rule of thumb;

If it's a compliment to a moderator it'll probably go down well. UNless it's insulting or too far off topic to another Mod.

Back on Topic.

Why did Cavendish start as English then become Scottish?

This has bugged me, but I was too afraid to ask, for fear of an obvious reason.

The Selezen is right. Scottish he is and Scottish he has always been.

Well I read his accent in his first appearance as the 19th Centurary English Gentleman.

Then in his subsiquent apperances I read it as Scottish.

Looking at the latest comic (344), it looks like Cavendish may have pirate blood in his veins. Ye'arr!

For a true Scotsman, the word is "ye're". For future reference.
