Bolt Pistol of Doom

On the way to a game

Speaking of bolt pistols, I was playing an escalation league game. My Tau vs. Blood Angels. I had a Crisis Suit on top of a ledge, where he couldn't assault it. One of his Assault marines was within 12' though, so he deicded to take a pop shot with a bolt pistol, and killed him dead. :(

The only units of mine that survived that slaughter were the stealth suits that had inflitrated onto the other side of the board. (and had blown up a Rhino with a burst cannon barrage tothe back, and had picked off the remenents of the squad that was in it)

least you killed something...the gamers at my store absolutely OBLITERATE the tau when they get first turn. They all hate the tau--especially the black templar player with his chaplain of doom (that conversion is so sweet).
Seriously though, bolt pistols are possibly one of the most underestimated weapons of the game.

If it wasn't for the fact that he had a POWER FIST I'd say it was impossible.

a squad of seraphim and a combat monster

Postby LordMacLane » Tue May 02, 2006 1:56 am

i guess it was when i first started playing back in 1998 3rd edition had just hit the scene, i picked the only army that was collecting dust on the shelf (sisters of battle).
my 2nd game ever was a breakthrough mission against dark eldar. he had Cheese lord! a close combat monster from the bowls of power gamer hell  per the codex he went first and creamed my sisters before thry could leave the deployment zone. save for one 10 model squad of seraphim and a canoness i had tucked at the back. Cheese Lord! was in HtH with my canoness and she was doing pretty good until i had rolled a 1 on her last invulnerable save. So as any self-respecting dark eldar player would do, he dida sweeping advance right into my squad of seraphim which hadn't moved at all. and could rapid fire their bolt pistols at 6 inches. and reroll misses.
20 shots hit in all and wounded with 6s all around.
since he had me roll every single armour save throughout the game(even after the first hit had killed the model) i made him roll every single hit on that damn shadow/void/take-whatever-you-got-and-laugh-at-you shield..... 20 1s really does make you wince even when your not the one rolling

I assume your talking to me. Don't really know how I have free time but it is about to get worse. Marching band practice is starting already even though the season doesn't start until september. Then I have AP and honors homework for over the summer too I will have to do. Not to mention my job of painting models.

its going to be a busy summer.

A few weeks back, my Scorpion Exarch took down Commisar Yarrick, 2 guards, 6 marines and a SM captain in 3 turns. He was Khainelike.
