Nemesis, Champions of the Dead

Postby AJ » Thu Jan 11, 2007 6:28 pm

This idea I have had kicking round for years, it is the fallen side of my Space Marine Chpater, the Desert Ghosts, who were corrupted by a lesser Daemon with similiar powers to Nurgle, the Nemesis.

But why not a Nurgle army then? The idea is to have an Undead CSM army, now the problem I have with using Death Guard is the fact that I feel T5 does not represent all undead and so I went for a different approach.

So why not Lost and the Damned? I felt that it to be (a) more tactically sound to have units which didn't start on the table and (it matches the armies fluff as a CSM than a LATD list).

The army list can be found here

Designers notes.

• Daemons. There are only three daeomn types used int he army in general, daemonettes to represent skeletons, plague bearers represented by Ghouls and horrors and flamer to represent undead guard (9x horrors + 1 flamer = 9 zombie guard + 1 zombie guard with heavy bolter).

• Banners. When I first devised the army fluff two years ago I was heading more towards Tzentch (sp) so I could have Sorcerers in each squad representing Liches, I resently can up with the conscept to use Icon bearers as the Liche istead and that way still have an aspiring Champion in each squad.

Here are some of the finished model, will try get a proper fluff listing and a picture of the finished army on the base board.

This is a conversion of Cassius I did originally as a Dark Apostle but eneding leading one of the CSM squads:

One of the Autocannoneers from the Havoc Squad:

The armies leader, based on Ghost Rider, it horribly hard sculpting the flames on the sword :p

Cassius' Squad

One unit of Skelli's (Daemonettes)

Unit of undead rough riders (Damonettes on steeds)

An obliterator

And although this isn't this finished version (forgot to get photos for him) this is the armies Defiler

That defiler idea is great. I think you should add some more mechanical bits and rotting flesh to simulate the daemonic vehicle.

There is a crap load more GS work on it, finished most of the army early last year for 2006 NATCON, it was a crappy tournament but at least I got another army done :p

I would like to see the dead RR's as actual Rough riders. You could green stuff the clothing to look battered and cut out and replace the hands and face with skellie hands and such.

That's all beautiful.
Excellent GS work, and exquisite painting. I love the Ghost Rider!
Though I must admit, the defiler is my favorite.
Fantastic work, and I must see the defiler painted.
Great idea, theme, and execution of that.

(O.O)

that defiler is just plain creepy!

great paint job, I like how the lighter green sections seem to have an ever so slight glow effect to them
