Relictors (non-standard paint scheme) and Radical DH allies

Postby dont_panic » Sat Jan 13, 2007 9:24 pm

I like to paint things bright colors, and while I like the Relictor fluff and wargear, I'm not a huge fan of gray. So I went with a "FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE!" theme and did lava. :D Also, all the marines are beakies - even the terminators (not yet painted).

We're not heretics... we're loyal! Just ask us!

lol...loyal...can you get rid of all your chaos-tainted weapons and banners then please, and hand yourself over for <grins> Interrogation?

But seriously...I'm still drooling over those models!

Thanks for the compliment, but I wouldn't win a Golden Demon (and believe me, I've tried).... I'm really more of an army painter than an indiviual fig painter. So when all my dudes are standing next together they look cool, but if you pick one up and scrutinize it, it doesn't stand up.

Two different schools of thought, really. I paint my guys to look good from 10 feet away (and you CAN see these guys from 10 feet away). Golden Demon painters paint to look good from 3" away, but when you look at them at tabletop range some of the details blend together. Since I paint to play, I go for the first one.

Dude, those are beautiful!
The banner is great!
I love the lava effect. Hey, how long does it take you, per squad, or vehicle, because that is some quality work right there..
You may not see us
But we'll be there
You may not feel us
But you will care

Your shots will not hit us
We are shapes in the mists
Blink and you'll miss us
For we are the Ghost Fists!

WOW thats WAY better than all my painting. dang. Great job! I can see why you wouldnt put them in a Golden Daemon, but they are still really good!

Can i suggest that you work on a figure for a Golden Daemon? At that levell of painting if you spent some time on one figure then Im sure it would get a lot of praise.

Er, you don't want to know.... usually I paint ridiculously fast but these guys are taking me a while. About three hours per vehicle. And two, three-hour sessions per two troop models. We have painting night on Tuesdays, and it takes me 2 weeks to get 2 guys done. (As opposed to the Sons of Dagon - I got that whole army painted in 72 hours over Labor Day weekend a couple years ago!)

Thanks, Duff! Yeah, they're even worse in person.... they kind of got toned down in the photo. LOL!

LOL! Thanks. I have an idea for if I ever do it... I just have to find 400 spare hours with nothing to paint. Like that's ever gonna happen.
