painting hints!

here's how i do my skin and it looks really good on my high elves, so give it a go.
1) paint skinned area all over with elf flesh (elf flesh is best for humies too)
2) shade it with some slightly watered down flesh wash.
3) highlight any raised areas with bleached bone, try to keep this to a minimum.

seems basic, but it's really affective!

i have a nice easy way of getting a nice dark red on tyranids. If i can remember waaaay back to the time i collected them...

Think it went like this

-50/25 mix of Blood red and chaos black
-Drybrush of Blood red
-Unwatered red ink (to give that nice slimy look)
-Extremly light drybrush of pink ( i made a 50/50 mix of blood red and skull white)

I believe that was how it went, then you can just drybrush the carapace whatever colour you please. Hope that helped.
