Hello there, Building my First 40k Army

I know i might get jeered a bit as it is SM (cheesy, I know) Im 20, have about 10 games under my belt, 7 40k and 3 Fantasy. Anyway, I am building a Dark Angels Successor army (I didnt realize DA had to have robes, and i had assembled alot of the guys already)

I have:

1 Land Raider (Pintle Mounted SB+armor+some other goodies that I forget right now)
1 Rhino (HK Missle and PMSB)
1 Tac Squad (ML + Flamer)
1 Tac Squad (Plasma Gun + Flamer)
1 Dread (Multi + SB + CC weap)
1 combat squad
1 Black Reach Captain
1 Apothecary

Most of the stuff is blackreach.

Anyway onto my question, Does Ravenwing (or its successor equiv.) have to be on its own or can it be an addition to my army? I ask as whenever I see the wing, they are always by themselves

Looks good. Although beware flamers... I do not find them useful.

As with regards to Ravenguard etc, look to the codex special rules. Should be in there.

Actually, flamers are useful, if used properly... Especially with the new Combat Squad rules

Obviously, it works greatest on soft targets, especially "Horde" like creatures. Tyrinids and Orks come to mind. Remember, as an Assault weapon, it can be fired and allows you charge still in the assault phase, use this to your advantage to weaken the enemy squad up before an assault

117. Your mortar barrage will put exactly one round on the intended target. That round will be a dud.

I recomend specialising your squads a little more, you've got a missile launcher and a flamer in the same squad. The flamer is going to need to be up close and personal, but moving your men forfiets being able to fire the launcher. I dunno but I find hunter killers a bit of a waste, one shot for the whole game, but you've got a missile launcher weilding marine who can fire untill he's downed. I think you could use some ordnance, when I added a vindicater into my army I began to win. That with the Land Raider whoever you're facing is going to have to make priorities, and that adds to the pressure.

Got 2x assault squads :D

I decided they were more worth it than the devastator squad :)
