More of Dufflious' "good" painting

Postby Dufflious » Sat Oct 14, 2006 12:27 pm

Well, i've got my painting station all set up... seem to recall everyone showing theirs, so I might as well show mine.

Image

Only had it up and running for about 3 days, and it's already in a state.

Erm, okay, so I just finished painting my Apothecary, as I lost the one that I had, I bought another one and did him. Mid-painting of that Apothecary, I found my old one. Some of these are a tad blury, and you'll note the immediate effects of having a cold in the b/ground.

Sorry, but I think i've mastered Power Swords..

I'm liking the little blue-plasma-ey bit in the back pack there...

Enjoy, give comments.

ummm......well you can take consolation in the fact that my desk looks a lot worse....
here's mine
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k58/G ... CF0176.jpg
and in case you were wondering what that aquila thing is, it's a box I made in woodshop. here it is
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k58/G ... CF0177.jpg

but the apothecary looks nice, but

a) why is the Mark of Chaos Undivided on his left shoulderpad?
b) I noticed that the power sword is a little crooked, but nice job painting it, I would suggest drybrushing lightly with mithril silver and/or varnishing it.
c) aren't apothecaries supposed to be white, with one shoulder pad dedicated to their chapter?

here's my apothecary
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k58/G ... CF0174.jpg

Here's my version of a power weapon (on a Techmarine)
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k58/G ... CF0155.jpg

And here's a custom power sword for my Callidus (the C'tan phase sword)
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k58/G ... CF0203.jpg

any way....nice job, and keep up the good work!

I was going to footnote.. but anywho.

The Mark of Chaos Undivided on the shoulder is my chapter logo.

No, it isn't herecy.

Yes, it is the RHCP Logo.

I like it, and thus it is my logo.

The power sword was Enchanted Blue, with layers of Enchanted blue with a little white in it, moving up the sword leaving a little of the previous colour behind. Once at the top, I then drybrushed White, and highlighted the edges and tip with more white.

Any other questions?

Edit: Yes the sword is wonky... mainly because HAVE YOU TRIED PINNING SOMETHING THAT SMALL!?

The answer to that would most probably be yes, but I had tried to set it right about 20 times before I just set it firmly crooked. I'd reset it but frankly I have had enough of Super Glue, Water, Greenstuff and pinning.

Edit of the Edit: Apothicaries can vary. Here i've tried to mix an equal amount of the Orange and White. Some Apothicaries are all white, others are all chapter colour.

At the end of the day, they make my marines feel more comfortable while they die to Tau shooting. ;)

I have never had to pin anything in my life. :)
what does RHCP stand for?
my power weapon is based midnight blue, with stripes of regal blue, enchanted blue, shadow grey, skull white, highlighted with mithril silver, drybrushed on lightly to the edges, and finally a coat of 'ardcoat gloss varnish.

all the models look good but both desks are much messier than mine. I'm not saying its clean, far from it, but at least its organized chaos (by which I mean eveything is sorted into piles).
and Ghost fist, nice job on the aquila box
found a camera

bam, btw, the thing with a beard is a lamp, my comp background is a hand drawn map of europe circa 3800a.d., and If i need to paint I move the keyboard.

Ahh...that would explain it....
but no matter what you say, it still has six points (not eight).
RagingPotato, your desk is so neat, it hurts the eyes!!
Thanks for the comment on the box.

Pokemon are like zombies that breed... when you think you've finally seen the last of them, they come back, more than before and just as creepy.

What about the bolter? I thought I had a fairly good brass finish. Mithril silver with a watered down Snakebite leather on top. I re-drilled the bolter at the end, because light was still falling on the bottom, so I drilled it until I could see some stress at the back of it ;)
