More of Dufflious' "good" painting

You guessed it. More pictures.

The painting spree is over, I've now finished my Company Champion.

There's an attempt at the * on his chest there. But it didn't go too well, still, good enough. The power Sword, well, claymore looks good... I experimented with adding the layers while the paint was fresh, to get a better blend. I also found out why I highlight the white afterwards... doing it before hand just mixes the colour in the drybrushing >.>

Enjoy.

Nice, but i think the paint scheme is a little basic. I mean, come on, two colours?
You can do better than that. Why not make his shoulderpad silver, or gold? The sword is nice, probably because it's the only thing that's not just plain black or orange. Take my advice, or don't, whatever.

It's good advice, and it would probably make the model look better. Unfortunatly, I don't really want to. I hate doing metallic armour, see no need for it. And, y'know "Pride in your Colours" and all that lark.

Nice painting Duff. That guy with the axe in the back of the first pictures looks promising.

That's a good banner bearer...but the banner seems....blotchy. Especially the writing  . I can see "Sanguine(mad mess of black) Imperial.

That had better be a PIP. I would love to see what he (and the banner) look like when they're done.
I actually like the idea, it just needs more time and effort put into it.
Keep painting and don't give up.
(I still stick by my "add a dash of silver" comment you know. Just try it. It'll probably add a little depth to the model, if you drybrush lightly.)

The parts of armor painted black don't look so good. I can't really say why, maybe its just becuase you can't see any details when it is back.

Try to lightly white wash some grey onto the black areas to bring out the detail and it should look a lot better.

I agree with TF, although I have no idea what he is talking about. The banner bearer and such look nice altough I would just white over the sanguinello and try again.

The black parts of the armor just look like blotches, since you can't see much detail.

That's what I'm trying to say.

Alrighty. Command Squad is now DONE. With a capital D... O, N and E.

The armour has been done again (the black bits) with Codex Grey with Chaos Black in it.

Hope it's been worth the wait

What a lot of power weapons you have, Dufflious!
You don't really need that many. When one guy dies, thats 40 points (at least) down the plug-hole. Not good. Add some meatshields. You know, the wonderful world of ablative shielding......
Enough army list talk, yes the black looks better now. They look good together.
But you still should use some chainmail, or boltgun metal to break up the monotony of the orange and black. Use it on the shoulderad trims, or the chest eagle. Or, there's that company champion who has go that thing on his shoulderpad. As I said before, paint it silver! I didn't realize this before, but even their guns are orange. Do you have any other colours?
Can't wait to see them with silver

Commenting on his hideous number of power weapons...

Hideously effective, that should be. With the number of 3+ out there, each guy that hits with that is gonna be worth it. Just cram 'em in a dependable, survivable transport or have a lot of faith in your apothecaries (yes that's a plural! I like them...).

On another note, if he wants to paint them orange he will. While it can look a little monotanous (sp?), this can be broken with power weapons an purity seals
