I'm jealous at how you get that orange to get a nice coat. How did you do that?

Start from black, drybrush a few layers on to get rid of the black. Then, go over it with a normal coat until it looks good. Usually it takes about 2-4 coats. Then I go into the black-grey, then the grey highlight, parchment. Then go over the main armour again to cover up any screw ups. Do a drybrush highlight then a black wash to bring out detail. Although my black wash is a bit temprimental, sometimes I get horrid black water marks all over the place, but that's only to my own critic eye.

See i was going to do an Orange theme army but im lazy so i decided to use the Orange as a base coat and go over it with Dwarf Brass(or bronze, whichever it is) and now i got an Awesome goldish paint job that really shines.
But i gotta ask about that Black Wash. Does that always work without mucking up ur paintjob? Due to my lazyness i was going to do some White Scars and just spray white but i like to leave the resessed details black. Would i be best of spraying black and painting white or spraying white and washing black?

ps....creepily you paint Termies exactly the same way i do. (Ie leaving the backs of the legs black etc...)

If i'm honest I had no idea what to do. But I thought that I was using too much orange so far that the black wouldn't show through.

The black wash I just make sure it's very very dilated. Then if I think too much is somewhere, I empty the brush, then take off the excess. Common sense is such a virtue when painting.

Maor terminators nuuu!

Ok!

So, this one isn't -quite- finished, but I wanted to upload something before I went away to my Dads for the Weekend so I wouldn't get chance to finish him.

However, just to note i've been pulling these Termies back from "Bad painted land", pour examplé;

The first Termie I painted was from that squad. The other missing one is WIP.

But, here's the new guy.

Check the Missile Launcher, i've got spent rockets in there! ^^;

With his buuuuddy

And once you buy one termie squad, you're forced to buy another to make a 400pts Dakka squad of death. So, here are the waiting!

Man, reading all 6 pages of this thread was very amusing. Duff and Ghost Fist had a pretty intense gunfight going on there for like 2 1/2 pages.

I noticed that some of your models were undercoated in white, but you said they you painted with black undercoats. Is this lies, or laziness? Or perhaps none of the above. Just asking.

Also, anyone know how to get a nice solid gold color onto a black undercoat? You guys all seem to be pretty knowledgeable.

I just paint shining gold onto the model, using as little water as possible, to make it thicker. Then I use a semi-watered down Chestnut Ink in the cracks. After that, I drybrush mithril silver on the top.

Hope to have helped.

Duff, nice termies. How did I miss these before....?

Burnished gold into Shining with a tinbitz and Shining highlight.

Or atleast that's what i did for that Sister of battle.

And sorry i've not done much painting. I've just... not, recently.

Very interesting work you have!
An interesting technique for pwer swords:
Paint Boltgun Metal.
Drybrush Mithril Silver.
Paint streaks up and down the sword with Enchanted Blue.
Gaze the sword with blue ink.
It turns out really nice if its done right.
Otherwise.... your painting station is sooo neat compared to mine. :P

Oh yeah, they mentioned that technique in White Dwarf. Purple Ink also works well too.
Another good one to do is to overbrush the edge of the blade with warlock purple and then paint streaks of purple leading from the edge to the middle of the sword.

I used this technique on my librarian and it looks pretty good.
