Crazy Khorne Lord

Postby Kylewaaagh » Fri Jun 01, 2007 8:32 pm

This guy took me 3 months of hard labor, and i managed to slice several fingers with a modeling knife during the process of removing the models arms and replacing them. I'm sure you dont mind that this is a fantasy model, and even though this is a 40k forum, I dont think its a big deal. The idea behind the hi-tech juggernaut being used in a medival world is that it was a gift from the chaos dwarfs, and was posessed by a demon after the rider sold his soul to the blood god. Let me know what you think, HONESTY COUNTS. I didnt post this guy to be glorified, i want advice, not to be bosssy or anythign. THANK YOU!!!

BOOM! HEADSHOT!

Really, though, nice job. I like the amount of care you put into the overall presentation of the model.

The gold trim on the juggernaut is really good.

The decapitated guy is FANTASTIC. Not only is it well done, it conveys a sense of movement and action to the model.

I'm having some issues coming up with a criticism for this model, so I think I'll just insult your mom instead. Just kidding.

Why thank you! My mother is not to be insulted! Hahaha that got me laughing. Anyways, this is an incredibly difficult model to make simply because the Juggernaut is such a terribly poor mini. Almost nothing is symetrical.
I dont have any pics of it yet, but i sculpted a head flying off the axe plade. RATED R for graphic violence, baby!

S'good. I just... I dunno, something feels off. I think it's the red. It looks too light for Khorne. He's a very clean Khornite :P

I'd add some gore, and... like... guts. And stuff.

But beyond that great conversion.

Dude, where's my head?

*rubs eyes*

It's a bit... red, isn't it? If red makes you fast, that thing has about 20" movement...

Anyway, it looks great.

Yeah, more like 14 inches :D (WH Fantasy has messed up movement!)
I recently put some thinned red/brown ink over the reds to dumb it down slightly, and airbrushed some subtle dusting effects onto the lower torso.

I Think the model is sweet.
If it needs anything, Howabout some Chestnut ink thinned some, over the entire juggernaut. That would help tone the red down and make that gold stand out and help bring definition in crevices where everything is red, maybe.
Overall, Awesome!
The defination of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I think the only issue is that the Rider and mount have such identical paint schemes that they blend together. Can you make the rider stand out more?

Yes, I recently did that exact chestnut ink trick. :D He looks really cool when ranked up with a few knights. Here's how i run him:

Exalted Champion of Khorne
Axe of Khorne
Armour of Damnation
Juggernaut of Khorne

I find that Chaos Lords are over-priced and overkill. Way too powerful. (for the slower folks out there, i use this guy in WH fantasy)

One thing i consitered before i painted him was i almost painted the juggernaut black, but thats not very khorne-like.

What models/components did you use in this conversion? Also... WOW!

I really love this piece.

Thanks all, I appreciate it. Sorry for the 3 month wait, but anyways, here's the post-chestnut and head picture! I used the basic juggernaut body, a classic chaos lord axe, a Khorne Berzerker Champion head with sculpted hair, and the Khorne Lord body/sheild. The headless guy is from the giant boxed set, and the head is from some empire melitia.
