Golden Throne

Postby Selezen » Wed Apr 27, 2005 1:18 pm

Hi everyone. On Golden Throne at the moment there is a discussion raging about the attitude and perception of the forum members.

TSOALR has been mentioned as a forum with a rather negative opinion of GT, although I have stated that the issues that raised their heads in teh past have been resolved.

However, just to clarify, I would like to gauge the opinions of the TSOALR members as to thier exact feelings about GT and maybe clear up some opinions regarding the relationship between the two comic sites.

I will feed back the results to the GT forum.

Thanks for your input.

GT as a comic has had some pretty funny moments in the past. I didn't much care for that forum mostly because I thought (upon first visit) that most of the people there had the IQ of warm jello. I don't mean to offend anyone, it's just what my first impression was...

I am a regular from GT. From here I know Selezen and some of his darker secrets

I like the forum, but lately is has been alot of spamming for spamming sakes. In one topic it got 5 pages over night!!!

Too much crap.... Sure it is a fun place, but I have gotten to be alot more selective where I put my posts. I like to help with ideas, fluff, conversions tips, strategies and small talk. But sometimes it looks like something that should have been in a msn.

Still....I am Lord Siwoc of the Golden Throne...and so much more.

I just took a thought...

Golden Throne can be found here:
http://www.golden-throne.com

It is also linked off the front page of this webcomic.

If anyone hasn't heard of it, then feel free to go have a look and see what all the fuss is about!!

I'm off of the Golden Throne too (as such, it's collective intelligence will now be up now I have another place to hide), and I too have grown bored of the spam (read; i'm an aging "funny man" who can't keep up with the what the "kidz" find "cool". Air quotes are still funny, yup?)

Though, judging from things there seems to be an exodus of GT members coming here, where we can have intelligent discussion without out precious gems of wit and wisdom (i.e. precious based on their rarity) without being buried in a sludge and slime of spam, witless pictures and pornographic links.

Though if all of these things turn up, it'll be Selezen-san's fault for brining this place to our attention.

I think I should note that the rules here about spammage are quite tight. Me and cog spare nobody, and topics that are even slightly spammy in orientation will be locked up tight.

If anyone from GT reads this, then be aware that this is the case.

If you want to talk about other stuff, then my Battle Barge forum seems to have become the unofficial TSOALR non-comic related forum, supplementing this cool place with some other areas for discussion.

If you're interested, pop along at http://www.hughesd.co.uk/drakenet/spmar/forums/

and Welcome to TSOALR...

Sorry for the double post, but I just noticed that the Golden Throne link has been removed from the front page of the TSOALR site...

Steve, is this deliberate? A message perhaps???

One more from GT weighing in (though I've lurked here for a while). The forum is kind of in a state of decline, which miraculously started when I began to post (go figure). It's just kind of saddening that the freedom and close friend like atmosphere that seems to be the hallmark of GT is starting to wear off as the evil excessive spam rears it's ugly head (not that I didn't add to the fire at all in there). Even the recent intelligent conversation that the forum is experiencing will probably dry up in a day or two. Now I cry, and leave quickly least I bring more bad mojo to other forums.

Speaking as a senior moaner from GT, I don't see that the magic has gone. The spam has simply got to the stage where it has taken over. There will doubtless be a period of subdued activity whilst people get used to the idea that spam is needing to be controlled, but it'll be back.

Sadly, the GTIFM10AAAAG seems to have suffered the most...

The glorious 10th division.

Well I have made my 40k mini me. Now all I have to do ispaint him.

The spam is a tidal wave that I cannot swim against. Sometimes I ignore a lot of the topics in random musings because I know they will soon have become flooded with something else.

Sadly, the GTIFM10AAAAG seems to have suffered the most...

I didn't mean to imply that it was gone, just getting a little cluttered in people's vision by the spam race. It is a sad fact that the 10th has to suffer due to this, and the unoriginal "Lets go kill stuff... ok, we won't" is just a bad way to go out.
And I don't have my mini-me yet, but I will come the 14th.

I didn't always get the "disgruntled employee" humor, but overall I liked the comic.

never visited the forum. Actually thought the site had gone down since it hadn't been updated in several months. Even removed the link from my browser. Go figure
