My friend, who plays Grey Knights, and I (Worldeaters, if you couldn't tell from my sig) decided to play a siege scenario. He had a castle to defend, and a few squads of guys. He also had 2 Landraiders and 1 LR Crusader. The rules allowed my squads to take either a siege ramp or ladders. Ladders were personal wargear. Siege Ramps were like vehicles. They cost points, of course. I also had the option of battering rams for the door, but I chose to ignore that, given that the rules were funky (had to hit it six times in a single turn; AR 10).
I had to end the game in control, meaning at least one squad with over 50% strength inside the fortress. If I didn't, but succeeded in getting rid of his squads, we drew. If he held me off, of course, he won.
He had the option, of course, of letting his tanks out... but the gates were operated by a squad. So he lets all his tanks out, and we start shooting (Khorne was generous enough to bless the Worldeaters with the awesome might of a Defiler). I push towards the walls, and get a siege ramp or two over each side. I wiped out his guys within a few turns (we play to 6), and suddenly, I was in control of the base. The most hilarious thing happened. He had to try to shoot his way back into his own base with his Landraiders! I thought he'd be able to do it, but he kept missing with his Heavy Bolters and Lascannons (the Crusader could've done it easily, but it sort of crashed into a Bloodthirster). He had an orbital strike focused on his own gate since the beginning of the game. It only counted as one hit on the door! Heh. He scattered it onto one of my squads though, and wiped most of it out... so I only had one full-strength squad inside there for the last two turns. That was scary. He didn't manage to shoot his way in, or scatter onto that squad though, so I won by locking him out of his own fort. Heh.
This still embarasses him, to this day. I could see Kren and Frep in a situation like that, too. Heh. "Vile Chaos scum! We bring divine justice to thee!" "Uh, Kren... where are they?" *look back at the walls* *see the Berzerkers displaying the decapitated heads of their comrades* "Frag it..."
